Library Starting A Community "Coupon Swap"

Are you a coupon user?

If so, the Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library is the place to be the first Thursday evening of the month. The Library is starting a community "Coupon Swap" that could help residents save money on all sorts of things.

"In order to participate, bring 20+ coupons per person to our library," said Angela Muir, one of the organizers. "It is a great opportunity to meet up with other couponers, as well as swap the coupons you do not use for the ones that you DO! We'll be meeting monthly, every first Thursday of the month."

For those attending a coupon swap for the first time, here are some swap basics:

Bring your coupons already cut out in an envelope

You don't need to sort them by product type unless you really want to

The group usually sits in a circle and passes around the envelopes to the person to the right. Take the coupons you want out and put the rest back in to pass on to the next person.

Once you get your envelope back, you know you have been through all the coupons

In really large groups, folks usually sit in groups of 5 to 8 people to swap

The group intends to meet the first Thursday of each month at 6 pm. Everyone is invited.
