"Juvenile Book Club" Forming at Library

A "Juvenile Book Club" for youngsters ages 7 to 12 is forming at the Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library.

The club will meet the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm. All books will be provided by the library.

"The first book discussion will take place Feb. 18," said Library Director Christie Starnes. "We'll be reading all sorts of books."

The first book in the series is "Because of Winn-Dixie" by Kate DiCamillo. Book Club members will also get to see the 2005 movie based on the book.

All meetings will be held in the Sybil Campion Meeting Room at the downtown library.

But, the Juvenile Book Club is only the start for the town's new library director.

"We hope to have a book club for every age group," Starnes said.

In the planning stages is a Young Adult Book Club, an Adult Mystery Book Club and a Senior Reading Club. The library already features a Wednesday morning "Story Time" for small children.
