Palladian Series Ends With Nanci Griffith

The Clayton Center's 2011-2012 performing arts schedule includes one more big show.

The Palladian Series closes on Saturday, April 14, with the incomparable singer/songwriter Nanci Griffith. Known for her brilliant songwriting as much as for her beautiful voice, Nanci Griffith is a master of folkabilly, a mix of folk, country, rock and hillbilly pop. Both passionate and political, Griffith has been hailed as the torch-bearer of American Folk music, performing everywhere from honky-tonk bars to Carnegie Hall.

The 8 pm performance is a sell-out--the fifth of the season, but standing-room-only tickets are available for $15.

Other performances to sell out this season were the Robert Cray Band, Jeanne Robertson, Jake Shimabukuro and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Tickets may be purchased by phone at 919-553-1737, at The Clayton Center Box Office from 10 a.m. until noon and from 1 until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or online at www.theclaytoncenter.com

Other popular artists presented in past seasons at The Clayton Center include Kathy Mattea, Dianne Reeves, Ricky Skaggs, Johnny Winter, Jesse Cook, Jim Brickman, Doc Watson, Eileen Ivers, Riders In the Sky, the Harlem Gospel Choir and David Sedaris.
